I've found additional evidence. Apparently these
rules also occur in Indo-Iranian. They also include
uxu>u and the C-deletion mentioned above occurs at the
level of consonants (vowels on a separate level) so
not only consonants touching on the surface level are
deleted.

The rules also apply to words of more than 4
syllables as below:
