In an old paper accessed via JSTOR at

http://tinyurl.com/2dxrl5 ,

G.D. Chase maintains that the Lat. praenomen Fufidius, -a (from
which the name of the gens Fufidia is likely to have been derived)
requires comparison with the name of the gens Eufta. (Why?)

There was also a more ancient and famous gens, the gens Fufia, whose
name is similar to Fufidia, but I frankly don't know whether the two
are related or not.

Cheers,
Francesco
