But on the other hand:

4. Skt r'amate has a short-a too.
5. Skt. Ra:ma- could well belong to the same Skt. root ram- even we
have a long-a inside. The semantic shift 'to rest' -> 'to enjoy'
etc...is not impossible
6. the PIE root is *h1remh- (the last h is indicated by the
Lithuanian form)

What alternatives you can propose for each of 2-to-6?
