The forms were not so short. As the theory that PIE had so
few *b because b>w has already been thought of, the pos. that
*teb+xYi > tebhxYi but *teb+ > tewe, etc just as xYmeg+xYi
> xYmeghxYi (so egxYom is due to metathesis) is evidence in
favor of it.
