PFU *s^- and *c^- -> Proto-Fennic *h-, says Abondolo
But according to
www.geocities.com/valentyn_ua/FinU-a-j.xls
it's
PFU jawyn ->
Veps hebo, Est. hobune, Fin. hevonen, Mari imne, Hungarian mén
I can't find anything in the material I have either for or against
this derivation. If true, that means the FU "horse" word is PFU.
Greek hippos could be from a dialect that had *j- > *h-, like
Proto-Fennic seems to have had.
