For English, "voiced obstruent" would be better. English vowels are
longest before voiced fricatives, then before voiced stops.

If you decide to experiment on your own, you can ask anyone to record a
list of words or a few sentences containing "bit", "bin", "bid", etc.
It's a sincere suggestion. From my experience, people can learn more
about their own accent when they examine actual spectrograms and other
speech lab products than from intellectual speculation based on unaided
introspection. But if you want to miss the fun, then of course it's own
choice.
