The point of both articles, especially the last one, seems to
mesh nicely with the way I've proposed Germanic originated:
starting with the Sciri/Bastarnae, in contact with Balto-Slavic
and Indo-Iranian, moving through Przeworsk II to Thuringia,
picking up substrate material from Italo-Celtic (according
to Hans Kuhn, based on loanwords, first Italic, then Celtic).
The only assumption I'd have to make is that the contact
with Italic would be with 'para-Italic' groups that the
Italic-speakers left behind in their old home when they left
for Italy.
