The two PIE l-roots, *seH2wl "sun" and *seH2l- "salt" (are there others?) have allways seemed odd to me, like archaic loanwords, and both have a-vocalism.

The IE root for "sun" always struck me as surprisingly complex, at
least in the disyllabic form, such as Watkins' *sawel-.
Does seeing it as *sah2wl- change the situation?
