Patrick, I cannot see *Karpa:tya: Mountains 'The Rocky Mountain' (<
Albanian karpë 'rock') as 'a nomen actionis' or 'a nomen agentis'.

1) If you analyze the word as *ka(:)rpa(:)-tya:, *-tya:  does not, in my opinion, mean 'made by'.
 
2) I believe the better analysis is *ka(:)r-, 'stone, rock' + *pet-, 'wing'. The semi-circular mountain cluster forms an Eastern 'wing' on the Central Mountain Range.
