First, sorry to say, we haven't any kind of vocalization of /p/,
unvoiced bilabial stop. Indeed, we may speak about devoicing of
voiced bilabial stop /b/, very characteristic for Illyrian: *baita:-
'goatskin' > Alb. <petk>, Rom. <petic>, but as well as in many other
cases, treated under *b and *bh in "Albanian Inherited Lexicon":
fuçi, fletë, fshesë, all from *s-b(h), if you agree that *sp >
Alb. /f/.
PAlb form of <pidh> I think is *pezd-u, an u-stem noun, due to eCC >
iCC, also characteristic for Albanian and Romanian: Lat. parens, -
tis > Alb. <prind> 'parents', Rom. dinte < Lat. dens, -is etc.
