But it shows that at least _some_ words with geminates are due to the
normal development of inherited vocabulary: they can be captured in
terms of a regular sound law. I don't deny the possibility of other
words with geminates having some other origin (including substratal
loans). My only purpose was to defend the validity of Kluge's Law.
