I think, there is a close relation among those words. All them stemmed from the name of the ancient god Bel. In case of "belbus" the syllable "bel" is duplicated as in the English word "wolf" (bel-belus, Vulfila, Belbelana - Babylon). In Slavic languages "vlk", "volk", "vuk" from the basis Bel-gon (god Bel who "persues" or "chase") wherefrom the name of Balkan peninsula appeared. Mythology: Vulkan, Veles, Volos, Bal, Bal. Even the Latin "lupus" might be a methatesis of "belus" similar to  "alba" (Slavic "belo").
