Richard, it's simple: let's check if it is 'sporadic or not' : Until
now we have 2 examples
1. Rom. aramã and
2. Rom. pradã
Please find another context (if any) ae <-> a for the Latin words
present in Romanian to check there too (I have the 'full' list of home
so I will check in the evening too)
If All the existing examples shows this assimilation we can
conclude that is Not Sporadic.
2. But a Second Example is good enough if we obtain a full
explanation for all the Romanian dilaects....and we have obtained it.
3. On the other hand, the argument that there isn't any assimilation
e<->a => a<->a is also a very important one knowing that ae passed to e
