The Romanian variant nuie [nu-'yae] is present
only in the subdialects of Moldova, Transylvania
and Banat, where such [ea]/[ya] diphtong endings
tend to be rendered as such, when there's no
definite article in use. The <e> is quite as
"open" as in BE <have, has, hat>, esp. in
Transylvania and Banat. In the South-Eastern
region of the 'Dacoromanian' dialect there isn't
such a rendering (neither such an [ae] vowel.
So, there only <nuia>, and <nuiaua>. OTOH, in
the regions where <nuie> is possible, the ar-
ticled word will also be <nuiaua>.
