In a nutshell:
The nom.du. masculine was *dwo: (alternating with the disyllabic
"Lindeman form" *duwo:).
The nom.sg. neuter was *dwo-ih1 (~ *duwo-ih1).
Both forms are the expected duals of the vocalic stem *dwo-. The dual
ending *-ih1 is used with both thematic and consonantal neuter stems.
The feminine was originally the same as the neuter, but there are
branch-specific innovations such as Lat. duae (formally a feminine
_plural_ with the pronominal ending *-i).
The compositional form of the numeral was *dwi-.
