I think that PIE *pe:d- `foot', in Greek attested as <pous> is also
attested in PAlb as *pout-, yielding its zero-grade form bound morpheme
<-put->, that gets its meaning due to different prefixes and suffixes,
like: <këput> `to break, wear, fall' (cf. Sl. pasti `to fall'); <sh-kë-
put `to detach, tear off'; <kë-pucë> `shoe', <sh-putë> `foot, sole'
(cf. Greek pedilon `sandal'); <put-ër> `paw, pad' (-ër diminutive
suffix).
To many, in Albanian is attested only bound morpheme <-posh-> in <për-
posh> `under', <poshtë> `down'; <i/e poshtër> `ignoble, infamus'. I
will add here also Alb. <pykë> `wedge, nib, quoin', probably from *ped-
ika: > *pikë (DVD = V), later <pykë>, for /i/ is preceded by
bilabial /p/, so its underwent to further bemolization in /y/.
