Dear Dr. Melkar,
Do you seriously expect anyone to accept this absurd conclusion
regarding the implications of your quote about Sergent? Does the fact
that the Turkish language arrived in Anatolia only in the 11th
century mean that prior to then Anatolia was as deserted as the moon
or populated by mutes? The quote speaks of *adopted languages*. Do
you not know what "adopted" means?
And please note, I am neither defending or attacking, Sergent's
conclusions (nor commenting on whether your quote accurately
describes Sergent's conclusions) I'm merely pointing out the
nonsensical nature of your closing comment. Please show a little more
respect to your readers by refraining from such insults to
intelligence.
Sincerely,
Ned Smith
