For still another etymology, Puhvel "Comparative Mythology" has
"Nodons .... attested in dedications in Gloucestershire bordering
South Wales (Deo Nodonti) seems to mean 'Fisher' (cf. Gothic 'nuta'
"fisherman", from *nudo:n[s]), the probable ancestor of the Arthurian
'Fisher King' of the Grail legend".
The only reference I have handy gives 'fiskja' as the Gothic for
"fisherman" and I have no idea what the *form refers to, but there it
is.
