Perhaps. After all, we have such vowels ("false yers") in Polish
<siedem> '7', <osiem> '8', ogien' 'fire', and many other words with
historically underlying final -CR. This vowel insertion is frequent but
sporadic, not regular, otherwise my first name would be *Pioter. But the
fact is that <sem'> _is_ completely unattested. WE only have Old Polish
jes'm' and its weak forms: early -(e)s'm' and later -(e)m (probably
affected by the regular 1sg. ending of <dam>, <wiem>, etc.)
