kurva < *kury (gen. kurUve) can be linked to *kurU ("hen"). As for the semantic shift, compare S-C k"urac "penis", Cz-Sk kokot "cock; penis", koketa (< Fr. coquette < coq), slepice "hen; stupid woman" etc., English cock "cock; penis" etc.
