"Tens of thousands _or more_" is a tall order; it would be difficult
to collect so much stuff even for a living language :), and the
reconstruction of PIE is of necessity only fragmentary. You'll find
many roots and words in the Leiden databases;

Just don't take every form cited in Pokorny's dictionary at face
value. The notation is rather outdated and some of the
reconstructions are shakier than others. It's a very useful tool
provided that one knows how to use it. And the best path to learning
that is through reading and asking questions.
