I always like to learn things that are almost certain. Why
*wa:ilos and not the *wlkwo- or thereabouts I usually see?
DanThe first and strongest reason is that *wL-kWo-s is a compound.Technically, so is *wa:-i-lo-s, 'wailer', but 'wail' is a derivation from pre-PIE *wa:-, 'wolf'.Patrick
