The so-called native name is *Donaris. But this is a mere
hypothesis, a reconstruction, made by linguists in order to
explain the Romanian name Dunäre, i.e. Duna + the Romanian
suffix -re. For those pre-ethnogenetical times, the name was
Istros and Danubius. Period.
