Germanic *sparwaz, *sparwan : OE spearwa = OHG sparo = MHG sparwe = ON spo,r = Goth sparwa.

A link between Greek psa:r and Latin passer is tempting, but problematic.

passer (g.passeris) is analogous to anser (g.anseris) "goose" <*g^Ha:ns/is, so we could suppose a similar *passis, or not?
