Latin o:stium "entrance, rive mouth" (and o:ra "coast") is indeed
normally derived from os "mouth" = Skr. a:s "mouth". The Old Norse
o:ss "river mouth" is another example (also in the name of my city
Ã…rhus = a:r o:ss "the mouth of the river").
