By "scholarly consensus" or by evidence? Have you found a language
that has "original" vowels and the laryngeal consonants?

PCR:I can sympathize with your feelings since the consenus has been against some of my own theories; however, scholarly consensus is supposed to be a reflection of the evidence. Upon what else could agreement be supposed? There may be unusual cases when the consensus ignores the evidence (anything on which a coporation can make a substantial amount of money, or what affects a politician's chances of staying in power) but these will be extremely rare in the non-commercial related enterprises like linguistics. Also, it is hard to perceive an ethnic bias in this question.Patrick
