Oops, that was a little hasty. The derivation must be more complex,
since thematic *testu:tus doesn't fit as the intermediate form. Still, I
believe we should start with <testu->, whatever the source of the
dental, and the voiced -d- has to do with the presence of the Hoffmann
sufix.
