Depends on the dialect - English /k/ has palatal allophones in
Ireland and Jamaica. To quote J.D. O'Connor on English RP: 'The /k/
of _key_ or _cue_ is noticeably further forward still and may be
post-palatal rather than velar' (p137, 'Phonetics' - a Pelican
book).
