Forgot to mention... I don't think *wey and *ey(es) are
special cases. They are athematic pronominal nominative
plurals, reflecting the pure ending *-ey. The thematic
vowel becomes *-o- before the vowel-initial ending (*-o-ey >
*-oy-), and we can't say anything about the voicedness of
whatever gave the *-y.

Armenian strongly suggests that plural *-esW was voiceless
(*-z(W) would have given -r, not -kh), so that's what I also
assume for the pre-stage of *-ey (**-&c^ ?). This also
speaks against thematic *-o:s coming from *-oD-z (with, I
assume, nominative *-z?), because *-o:sW also gives Armenian
-kh.
