Oh, I see. I found an explanation of chachar I did not like: "chachar is perhaps an expressive dialectal variant of Machar (< Mate^j = Methew) or Zachar (< Zacharia's^ = Zacharias), names of some thieves." (Struc^ny' etymologicky' slovni'k jazyka C^eske'ho by Holub & Lyer)

Your chachar would be from OHG hahaere (Bavarian/Austrian Häher). There is a word of similar meaning in Croatian and Slovene.

dacan [datsan] (a bad/rude/impolite man, villain etc.)

chachar [xaxar] (sim. to dacan)

ogar (a boy)

c^agan (a stick/crutch/club)

What are their etymologies? Any IE (or non-IE) counterparts?
