But, come to think of it, perhaps those (British?) linguists that
have identified it as an adjective in the plural were wrong and it
was actually in the gen.sg.? Another example: German 'Neues' is felt
by the natives (I think) to be a nom.acc. neuter, but that might also
be an old genetive. Anyway I think my idea stands: there is a path
from genitive to nominative.
