Dear List Members,

I would like to read some comments by competent linguists on Gray &
Anderson's recent theory placing the various IE proto-families'
branching off from PIE at dates 2,000 years earlier than the dates
arrived at by linguistic paleontology. The results of their research
are published in the following article:

R. D. Gray and Q. D. Atkinson, "Language-tree divergence times
support the Anatolian theory of Indo-European origin", _Nature_ 426
(November 27, 2003), pp. 435-9

As a layman in linguistics I would also know whether Gray &
Anderson's methodology is correct form the linguists' point of view.

Thanks
