Look Miguel, you sustain that the II Latin conjugation was generlised
over all in "s" droping Romance, aka Italian and Romanian. I sustain
that the desinences in Rom. are the same, regardeles the conjugation
with the difference, the vowel in the desinence being the vowel of the
verb in its infinitive form. I use here just the rules for regulars
verbs and not the irregulars.
- Latin desinences of conj. II
-io: ,-i:s, -it, -í:mus, -í:tis -iunt
- these desinences should have yelded "generalised" in Rom. the
following verbal desinences:
(-u), -i, -e, -im, -iTi, -(u)
Noting with "V" the vowel of the verb in its infiniteve form , the
actualy Rom. verbal desinences are:
(-u), -i, -V, -Vm, -VTi, -V
Exceptions?
a)verbs which ends in "a" have the color of the vowel "ã"
b)The verbs which have lost the "u" use the desinence of III sg as the
verbs in "a"
So, let's see the following table:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Due inheritance < Latin : (-u), - i, -e, - im, -iTi , -(u)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | | | |
Conj I ( a- stem) : -(u), - i, -ã, - ãm, -aTi , -ã
Conj II,(ea- stem) : -(u), - i, -e, - em, -eTi , -e
Conj III,( e- stem) : -(u), - i, -e, - em, -eTi, , -e
Conj IV,( i- stem) : -(u), - i, -e, - im, -iTi, , -e
| | | | | |
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PIE as reconstructed : *-o , *- e, *-et, *-VmVs, *-VtV(s), *-Vnt
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't see any "generalisation of conj. II Latin" here but I see that
the vowels are playing a role, and a big one. Now we cancompare with
Russian and Lithuanian as well, or with German if we want.
PIE as reconstructed : *-o , *- e, *-et, *-VmVs, *-VtV(s), *-Vnt
Actual desinences Rom. : -(u), - i, - V, - Vm, -VTi , -V
Due inheritance < Latin : (-u), - i, - e, - im, -iTi , -(u)
Latin, conj II : -io:, - i:s, -it, -í:mus, -í:tis , -iunt
Lithuanian : - u , - i, - a, - ame, -ate , -0
Russian : - u , -(sh)i, -et, - em, -ete , -ut
German : - e, - st, -t, - en, - t , -en
