very curious is that even that verb is deriving from PIE *aus where we
have again the ominous PIE *s which became sonorized in "z". The
"substratual" data in Rom. and the Alb. lang shows this s > z in a
certain phonologicaly medium.

BTW, your "audi:o".. I have here in my dictionary "audeo:".

Remarque: Rom. noun "auz" (the hearing) is considered to be a regresive
derivative of "a auzi".
