Some examples from the "Dreiautorenbuch": Rivers <Ems> and <Hunse>,
but the districts around them in the earliest sources <Emer-> and
<Huner-gewe>; the old non-Verner-affected forms survive. Tornacum >
French Tournai, Flemish Doornik, Also double forms from the
Nordwestblock area: Callendoorn,Kaldern/Hellendoorn; Kersne/Heerse;
Künsebeck/Hunse, Keflike/Heflike. Roman sources Calone, Carvium,
Catvalium, Coriovallum, now Halen, Herwen, Heel (Hedel?), Heerlen.

Thus it seems Grimm and Verner were in effect at a time no sooner
than when the Nordwestblock was colonised by Germanic speakers.
