Maybe my first message wasn't received.
~ Iove(Iuppiter) in Classical Latin is pronounced like Yoh-way in
Modern English. In Latin it was Iovis(Jovis), and it entered Middle
English. Iulius Caesar - (Yew-lee-uhs Kai-sar) &c..
~ Demeter, with macrons on all 3 "e"s, is also referred to as Deo.
In Classical Greek, means to bind, to prevent. But I think that is
not the case here. I only know that de is earth, land in Mandarin
Chinese, dunya, darth - earth, world in Hindi. I guess that De- in
her name comes not directly from Ancient Greek but older PIE
languages.
~ Glad to be accepted, I love languages, lingvaholic. I'm
interested in Middle English, Classical Arabic, Mandarin Chinese,
Yucatec Mayan, everything!
