Latin translation

is there known if in Latin the expresion "ad" + verb "dicere" was used
for meaning of "how do you mean it?" or "that is ( so to say)"; or
something similar?
I mean, if X explain something to Y and Y does not quite understand what
X mean , then Y will say ": how do you mean it, how do you say it".
Thus in Latin, was there a compositum where the prep. "ad" and the verb
"dicere" have been used together ad+dic- for telling "how you say that"?
