The Albanian words <këmben, këmbesë, këmbin, këmbyer shkëmben,
shkëmbesë, shkëmbim> appear to derive from a root with "a" or with "e",
thus there are three roots possible:
PIE *(s)kamb-/*(s)kemb-, Latin *ex-cambiare.
