I was thinking of the first three and relying on the
etymologies in AHD. AHD tentatively relates (B) to
<ruffle>, which does not appear to be related to <rough>.
It relates (C) eventually to Latin <infla:re:> and (A)
probably to med.Lat. <rufus> 'a kind of fish'.
