And Larry Trask's question explains the silence. Most of Alex's
questions can be answered, but it is difficult to explain the use of
vigesimal systems. After all, English and Danish use vigesimal
bases ('score' in English) that weren't part of the numbering
system. One might argue that the duodecimal systems is more robust
in English - at least we have a word for a dozen dozen, but it's
more a noun than a numeral. And perhaps, as Tolkien suggests, to
use it of people!
