Watkins gives Germanic *kri:g- < *gWri:-g-, from *gWerh2-
'heavy'; from *gWri:-g- also Celtic *bri:g-o- 'strength'
(whence Sp. brio, Ptg. briu 'vigor') and Celt. *bri:g-a:-
'strife'. (Leiden is down at the moment, but it's Pokorny's
*gwer-2.)
