There's nothing you can exploit here, I'm afraid:
the regular conjugation (number 1 or "a"-conjugation)
is -ez, -ezi, -eaz&, -&m, -atzi, -eaz&, and the
"short" version of it is -0, -i, -&, -&m, -atzi, -&.
It depends on the users' whims, and not on some
sort of chronology.

Moreover, if people had opted for the "i"-conjugation
("the fourth"), then we'd have now "a cununi": cununesc,
cununeSti, cununeSte, cununim, cununitzi, cununesc or
the "short" variant: cunun, cununi, cunun&, cununim,
cununitzi, cunun&. (Just have a look at "a cur&tza"
and "a cur&tzi", i.e. a verb that officially can be
conjugated according to the "a"-system and to the
"i"-system. In this case, either way is okay.)
