Why?

I only ask because I was under the impression that root-initial /a/
was caused by h2 (my 'x'), root-initial /o/ by h3 (my 'xW'), and root-
initial /e/ by h1 (my 'h').

I wasn't sure myself; h3é(h1)k^u- (which I would write as xWé(h)k^u-)
was my best guess.
