[k] > [k^] > [tS] and then probably [S] > [s], but other trajectories
are possible. The remarkable think aboutthis sound change is that it
does not appear to have been conditioned to any significant effect.

few environments, however, which appear to have _prevented_ this
change. These factors vary from group to group.
