>For instance one can read for *k^uon/*k^un as follow:
Please try to be careful when quoting stems or roots. With
*k^won-, the root is with asyllabic *w, not vowel *u, and
should end in "-" to show that it is a stem or root, not a
complete word on its own. The stem *k^un- is the weak
case form of *k^won- and is used in the genitive *k^un-os
(apparently some also write *k^un-es), for example. With
the form *k^unos, we don't need "-" because it _is_ a
complete word. It must be understood that *k^won- is
not a word on its own (erh, unless it is the vocative). The
nominative is with _lengthened_ *o: in *k^wo:n.
(Remember: IE distinguishes between short and long vowels
and so it is important to write the vowels properly.)
It may seem like a pain in the ass to conform to all these
notation rules but it's important and eliminates confusion.
