Very true. I myself am not trained in comparative linguistics but I enjoy
it very much as a study. So you don't have to feel intimidated. We
are all here simply because we love linguistics.
I've been studying world languages since I was four and my grade 1
teacher was supportive enough to help me learn the Greek alphabet.
Professionally, I'm a struggling 27-year-old Canadian webdeveloper who
just moved to Vancouver from Winnipeg to pursue greater
opportunities, only to be smacked down hard for trying. Rrrrr. So I'm
now a bouncer at a bar, of all things, and I do small web projects on
the side. I like anything that combines creativity and analytical thinking
together and comparative linguistics is one of those studies.
