******GK: I hope you realize that "overpopulation" is
a very relative concept which means different things
at different times, and is to be understood in the
context of a given historical economic system. For
instance, given the land distribution system in place
in the late 19th century, Galicia (and Transcarpathia)
were "overpopulated", which led to mass transatlantic
migrations... The 5th and 6th centuries had their
"limits" as well, which explain the "expansion" given
an opportunity. Transhumance shepherding likely had
such "limits" also in the 11th-14th centuries which
might explain a northward movement, given the
opportunity.******
