I don't think anyone speaks about Kalojan being Vlakh
or anything of the kind, because he named himeself
emperor of Bulgarians and Vlakhs (oh, and thanks for
the translation). Look in DB 1.6 and note Darius I
names himself the king of... count how many peoples.
This is totally irrelevant to his national
consciousness.
