In standard German, <Tür> contains /y/ (a rounded front vowel, and a
monophthong), _not_ /iu/ (a diphthong). Proto-Albanian stressed *u: was
fronted an became its front counterpart *y: (modern /y/), preserving the
lip-rounding (the same thing happened to German /u/ in umlauting
environments). The unrounding of /y/ to /i/ took place word-finally in
monosyllabic words, as in *mu:s > *my: > mi .
