You are right in qoting the usualy explanation. The Rom. Suffix "-eanu"
is seen as Slavic loan.
Just a question. How can it happens none of the linguists took a look at
the Dacian names where all of them ends in "-enses"?
As a matter of fact, the plural form fits with no ghange in this suffix
( does the slavic one do the same?)

Moldovean - Moldoveni
Osean - Oseni
RãcaTean - RãcãTeni
RegãTean - RegãTeni

And do not forget that this suffix shows the appartenence to a place .
The slavic suffix shows something else so far I remember.
